Coastal Café is the Salt + Noelle livestream from my dockside balcony at Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard, California. The camera looks across the channel at the public boat launch and kayak launch, where Channel Islands Rowing Club crews practice and rental boats and fishing charters pass through all day.
Brown pelicans dive for fish in the channel and sea lions and harbor seals surface between the docks. Frank, our resident great blue heron, usually naps on a neighbor's sailboat. On clear nights the stars come out over the harbor and the marina lights reflect on the water.

Field Work Under Admire from Afar™
I work with long telephoto lenses, mostly at 600mm and beyond, so the animals in these stories can carry on without reacting to me. I never bait or call wildlife in, and I back off when an animal reacts to my presence. I hold one of three CAWS photography certifications awarded through Sea Otter Savvy.

Fifteen Years in Music, Then the Harbor
Before Salt + Noelle, I worked in music, from grassroots live entertainment to Universal Music Group, pitching releases and building the systems campaigns ran on. Salt + Noelle started as a conservation storytelling project from my studio at Channel Islands Harbor, and it grew into a business that keeps telling those stories while helping the organizations protecting the coast tell theirs.
