Welcome to the Coastal Café

Live from our dockside balcony at Channel Islands Harbor, California. Bird feeders in the foreground, working marina behind them. Hummingbirds, house finches, doves, and goldfinches at the feeders. Great blue herons, grebes, mallards, loons, and cormorants on the water. Sea lions and harbor seals passing through. Pull up a chair.

🛶 THE VIEW

Paddlers launching from the public dock across the channel. Competitive rowers from Channel Islands Rowing Club. Duffy boats, fishing charters, sailboats heading to sea. Frank the great blue heron sleeping on someone else's sailboat like he pays rent. At night: stars, harbor lights on the water, planes overhead.

🐦 THE FEEDERS

These provide species-appropriate food as an alternative to harbor litter and discarded fries. In frame: two hummingbird feeders, a hanging seed feeder, Mandevilla vine for natural nectar, and a table feeder loaded with seed (still working on getting that one on camera). We also maintain a freshwater fountain with stones for safe drinking and bathing, since the harbor itself is saltwater. Ground-level stations sit below the camera's view, so if you see doves or juncos hanging out down there, they're eating well.

🎧 AUDIO

Ambient harbor sounds, not live audio (our neighbors didn't sign up to be on camera). We're building integration with our BirdWeather station for real-time bird call detection. Explore live species detections: Station No. 22723

❣️ LOCATION NOTE

This stream broadcasts from private property at Channel Islands Harbor. Please do not attempt to access. The harbor has plenty of public docks, waterfront walkways, and restaurants if you want to visit. Channel Islands Harbor is beautiful and accessible, just not from our balcony.

💐 SUPPORT THE CAFÉ

Help keep the feeders stocked and the stream running at Buy Me a Coffee.

We're working on better camera angles for closer feeder views and building the Coastal Café Club, a membership tier with behind-the-scenes access.
