Welcome to Alexis Noelle’s Founder’s Journal, a new space at Salt + Noelle for quick personal reflections and behind-the-scenes glimpses. This is my living diary as an artist and studio owner, currently based in Channel Islands Harbor. Here, I’ll share the rhythms of daily life, along with the ongoing journey of building a conservation-driven studio.

In this collection, you’ll find iNaturalist Observation Cards. Each week, I’ll highlight a few favorite sightings from my iNaturalist logs. These cards are my way of quickly documenting the moments that stood out. I don’t spend much time editing or polishing them, so I can share what I see while it’s still fresh. Every card includes a scientific fact and a link to the full observation. While many sightings happen at the harbor, others come from trails, new coastlines, or wherever curiosity leads. For me, these cards create a visual record of the week’s discoveries; a creative way to look back and see how the story of place and wildlife unfolds over time.

If you’re interested in the details behind each sighting, you can find additional notes on iNaturalist. There you will see information about tag reporting, environmental factors, seasonality, and more.

Discover more by joining the iNaturalist community and following my profile. On iNaturalist, you can view my ongoing log of wildlife sightings, connect with other nature enthusiasts, and contribute your own observations. Each profile is a window into the diversity of our world, and by following along, you’ll help grow a network of people who care about documenting and protecting wild places.

Founder’s Journal is also where I record the creative process and personal milestones as I grow Salt + Noelle. Sometimes that means sharing a small win, or simply noting the moments that make this work meaningful.

If you’re looking for immersive photo essays and in-depth stories, you’ll find those on the main blog. Founder’s Journal is for readers who enjoy real-time updates, small discoveries, and the ongoing journey behind the work.

As always, every observation shared here follows the Salt + Noelle Admire from Afar methodology. Respect for wildlife and responsible storytelling are at the heart of everything I do. If you’d like to learn more about these guiding principles, you can explore our full ethics statement.

Thank you for following along and supporting this journey. Your curiosity and encouragement help make this work possible.
